Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan with the EU Special Representative for Central Asia

On May 21, 2021, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the EU Special Representative for Central Asia Peter Burian.

The parties exchanged views on cooperation within the framework of European Union and Central Asia, the New EU Strategy for the region and Europe’s programs in Tajikistan.

The interlocutors noted the importance of developing relations between the European Union and Tajikistan in the formats of Cooperation Council, Cooperation Committee, as well as political and security and human rights dialogues.

The issues related to security and stability in the region, situation in Afghanistan and threats of terrorism and extremism were also discussed in the meeting.
