On February 19, 2021, the Cooperation Council between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union held its ninth meeting in the format of videoconference. Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Portugal Augusto Santos Silva headed the delegations.
The agenda of the meeting covered key aspects of partnership and cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the EU, political and economic as well as international and regional issues. The sides discussed the current state and prospects for strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Tajikistan and the European Union in the political, trade-economic, water and energy, security, fight against terrorism and extremism, human rights fields in details and exchanged views on international and regional issues.
The delegations expressed their satisfaction with the outcomes of the 9th meeting of the Cooperation Council and reaffirmed their readiness to continue efforts aimed at enhancing the scope of bilateral and multilateral engagements.
