Opening of the photo exhibition "Tajiks in the Mirror of History" in Namur of the Kingdom of Belgium

On February 13, 2015 in the hall of the "BNP Paribas Fortis" bank office in Namur city, the capital of the province of Wallonia of the Kingdom of Belgium, a photo exhibition entitled "Tajiks in the Mirror of History" organized by the Embassy of Tajikistan to Belgium was held under the patronage of the Namur city hall. Namur city is twinned with Kulob city. The photo exhibition, which will last until February 26, is organized as part of the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between Tajikistan and Belgium.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by officials of Namur city and the province of Wallonia of the Kingdom of Belgium, the management and professors of Namur University and several other institutions of higher education of the Kingdom, scientists, cultural experts, orientalists and media representatives of the host country.

At the beginning of the event Mayor of Namur Maxim Prevot, delivering a welcoming speech at the opening of this remarkable photo exhibition, noted that it effectively promotes cultural relations between Belgium and Tajikistan.

In his speech, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Kingdom of Belgium Rustamjon Soliev presented information about the rich and ancient history, culture and arts of Tajiks, which are reflected in colorful photographs. Ambassador of Tajikistan also spoke about his country's achievements in political, economic, social, cultural and humanitarian fields during the years of independence.

Afterwards, Professor of Leuven University of Belgium Alexander Tourovets made a short speech. He stressed that Tajikistan has vast tourism potential and urged his compatriots to go on an unforgettable journey through the unique cultural and historical places of this picturesque sunny land.
