Meeting of the Tajik Foreign Minister with the U.S. Assistant Secretaries of State

On February 6, 2015 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov held talks with the U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Daniel Rosenblum and U.S. Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor Steven Feldstein.

During the meeting the sides discussed issues of preparation for conducting the next round of Annual Bilateral Consultations between Tajikistan and US in Washington, upcoming Parliamentary elections in Tajikistan in March and the High-level International Conference on the implementation of the International Decade for Action “Water for Life”, 2005-2015, which is to be held on 9-11 June, 2015 in Dushanbe.

The sides also exchanged views on issues of bilateral relations, regional cooperation, stabilization and rehabilitation of Afghanistan, water and energy issues and other matters of mutual interest.

After the meeting with the Minister of Foreign Affairs the representatives of the United States participated at the joint high-level meeting to discuss the issues of religious freedom with the colleagues from the relevant ministries and agencies of Tajikistan. The delegation of Tajikistan at the meeting was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Nizomiddin Zohidi.
