Participation at the Special Event to Launch the SDG-6 Global Acceleration Framework

On July 9, 2020, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated in the High-Level Political Forum Special Event to Launch the SDG-6 Global Acceleration Framework.

High-ranking representatives of member states and heads of international organizations of the   UN system, including UNEP, UNICEF, UNECE, UNDP, UN-Habitat, UNESCO, UNDP, FAO, WMO, OHCHR and IFAD participated in the event and exchanged views on the implementation of the water-related Sustainable Development Goals.

In his speech, the Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized that the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan has been developing the National Water Strategy, which is consistent with the Development Agenda-2030 and the Country’s National Development Strategy until 2030.

At the end of his speech, Sirojiddin Muhriddin сommented on the measures to implement the International Decade of Action “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028”. 

At the conclusion of the Forum, the Secretary-General of the United Nations Organization António Guterres gave remarks about the Forum's agenda and expressed his gratitude for the support, coherence, contribution and unity shown by the UN member states, the UN agencies, youth, civil society and the private sector on water and sanitation.
