Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and New Zealand were established in August 1992, creating a solid foundation for the expansion of bilateral cooperation in various fields.
The Embassy of New Zealand in the Republic of Tajikistan operates with residence in Moscow.
Since March 9, 2023, Ms. Sarah Walsh has been serving as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of New Zealand to the Republic of Tajikistan.
From July 8 to 9, 2013, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan paid an official visit to New Zealand. As part of this important visit, meetings were held with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of New Zealand, Mr. James Bolger, as well as with the head of the New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) organization. During these meetings, the parties discussed issues related to the development of trade and economic cooperation.
From September 12 to 14, 2013, the Special Representative of the Prime Minister of New Zealand paid a working visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. During this visit, the representative held meetings with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Minister of Water Resources, and other senior officials of the Republic of Tajikistan.
To strengthen bilateral cooperation, a Joint Statement was signed between Tajikistan and New Zealand, in which the parties identified priority areas for collaboration in various sectors.
The trade turnover between the Republic of Tajikistan and New Zealand amounted to 211.8 thousand US dollars in 2024.
