On March 18, 2026, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Belarus, an international round table was held at the Society of Friendship and Cultural Relations of the Republic of Belarus with Foreign Countries on the topic “The Role of Manifesto of Cyrus the Grate in the Formation of Modern Human Rights and Freedoms”.
The event was attended by heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the Republic of Belarus, scholars and experts, as well as representatives of broad scientific and cultural circles.
During the round table, the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Belarus, Bakhtovar Safarzoda, delivered a speech highlighting the historical significance and important role of Cyrus the Great’s legacy in the development of universal human values, particularly in the formation of human rights and freedoms, as recognized in the resolution adopted at the 43rd UNESCO Conference. It was emphasized that the Manifesto of Cyrus, encompassing 2,550 years of history, is one of the earliest historical sources of human rights, retaining its relevance to this day and laying the foundation for the development of modern norms of international law.
The event also paid special attention to the international initiatives of the Republic of Tajikistan in promoting legal culture, including the proclamation of 2027 by the United Nations as the “International Year of Legal Literacy”. It was highlighted that this resolution will contribute to raising the level of legal awareness in the global community, expanding international cooperation in legal education, and strengthening the values of the rule of law.
At the conclusion of the round table, participants exchanged views on pressing issues, including the role of the Manifesto of Cyrus in shaping modern human rights and freedoms.
