Event dedicated to the International Day of Glaciers held at the United Nations Office at Geneva

On 17 March 2026, the Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan in Geneva organized an event entitled “Advancing Global Cooperation on Glaciers: Experiences and Multilateral Action” at the United Nations Office at Geneva on the occasion of the International Day of Glaciers. Prior to the event, a photo exhibition dedicated to glaciers was held.

The Permanent Representative of Tajikistan, Mr. Sharaf Sheralizoda, emphasized the importance of strengthening international cooperation to address glacier retreat. Statements were also delivered by the Secretary-General of the World Meteorological Organization, Professor Ms.Celeste Saulo, the Permanent Representative of Nepal, Mr. Ram Prasad Subedi, and representatives of UNESCO and the United Nations Environment Programme. The event also served as a briefing on the forthcoming international water conference in Dushanbe, highlighting its importance as a key platform for advancing global cooperation on water and climate-related issues.
