Participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in the сelebration of the 50th Anniversary of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme and 60 years of UNESCO Water Sciences

On 11 June 2025, in Paris, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part and delivered opening remarks at the ceremony dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the Intergovernmental Hydrological Programme (IHP) and the 60 years of UNESCO Water Sciences.

In his speech at the opening ceremony, he congratulated the participants on this important milestone of the IHP and commended UNESCO’s contributions to the field of water sciences.

It was noted that the goal of Tajikistan’s international initiatives in the field of water resources and glacier preservation is to draw the attention of the international community to existing challenges and to seek solutions through water diplomacy and the rational use of water resources.

In this regard, it was emphasized that the Republic of Tajikistan, as one of the  initiators and champion country in advancing water agenda stands ready to further develop cooperation with UNESCO and its Member States with a view to advancing the global water cooperation, expanding scientific research in the field of water, and ensuring the practical implementation of international initiatives in this sphere.
