Bilateral relations of Tajikistan with Greece
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Hellenic Republic were established on 30 September, 1992.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Greek Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan (with residence in Moscow from 2023 ) is Ms Ekaterini Ksagorari.
Political cooperation (exchange of the visits). On 20 May 2008 the political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Greek Republic took place in Dushanbe. According to the agenda, the two sides discussed and exchanged views on bilateral relations, socio-political and economic situation in both countries, issues of regional cooperation and security and the interaction of Tajikistan and Greece in the framework of international organizations such as OSCE and UN.
On 1st December 2009 in Athens on the sideline of 17th Council of Ministers of OSCE, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan H.Zarifi has met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Greece George A. Papandreou. The main attention during the exchange of views was given to the issues of the bilateral Tajik-Greek relations, particularly in the field of trade and economy, as well as other regional issues of mutual interest.
Economic Cooperation. There are a huge potential for a development of bilateral trade and it would be useful to organize joint Tajik-Greek Business Forums.
In January - November 2023 – the total amount of bilateral trade reached 194,9 thousand US dollars (imports – 194,9 thousand USD).
The main import products – machinery, equipment, petrol and oil products, consume goods.
Legal Base. The Republic of Tajikistan is for the prompt establishment of necessary legal base of the Tajik-Greek cooperation in various areas.
