Relations between Tajikistan and Cuba

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Cuba were established on March 25, 1992.

The Ambassador of Cuba to Tajikistan (with residence in Astana) is Mr. Oscar Santana Leon (since 2022).

At present, bilateral political relations are limited to exchange of messages and official meetings.

Deputies of the Majlisi namoyandagon Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan participated in the 4th International Brigade of Solidarity with Cuba “May Day” from April 29 to May 10, 2009 at the invitation of the Cuban Institute for Peoples' Friendship.

 On October 25, 2019, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Khusrav Noziri met in Baku with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Cuba Mr. Bruno Rodriguez Parilla. During the meeting, the sides discussed the status and prospects of expanding relations between the two countries in various spheres, exchanged views on cooperation between the two countries within the framework of international organizations, particularly the UN.

Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Mr. Farhod Salim within the framework of participation in the “Summit of Heads of State and Government of the G77+China on topical development issues: the role of science, technology and innovation” (Havana, Cuba, September 15-16, 2023) held separate meetings with the Minister of Health of the Republic of Cuba Jose Angel Portal Miranda, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Cuba Anayansi Rodriguez Camejo and Vice President of “Biocubapharma” Dr. Eulogio Pimentel Vazquez. During the meetings, the parties considered prospects for the development of bilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Cuba in the spheres of health care, education and tourism, as well as cooperation within the framework of international organizations.

The legal framework of relations between Tajikistan and Cuba is in the stage of formation.
