Bilateral relations between Tajikistan and Denmark

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Denmark were established on January 21, 1992.

Political cooperation (exchange of visits). At the first stage of relations between Tajikistan and Denmark, after the establishment of diplomatic relations, a number of high-level meetings and negotiations took place, including between the heads of foreign policy departments, during which the main directions of relations between the two countries were discussed.

On October 8, 2009, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr.Emomali Rahmon received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kingdom of Denmark Mr.Per Stig Moller.

From 7 to 18 December 2009, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr.Emomali Rahmon participated at the 15th Session of the Conference of the Parties (COP) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change which took place in Copenhagen.

On 22 January 2014, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mr.Emomali Rahmon, received members of tha Parliamentary Assembly of the Organisation for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) from Sweden and Denmark, led by Kent Harsted, a member of the Defence Committee of the Parliament of this organisation.

October 23, 2014 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO) Zsuzsanna Jakab and Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mary of Denmark, Patron of the WHO Regional Office for Europe.

During the meeting the sides discussed the issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and WHO, implementation of projects and programs in the field of health such as maternal and child health, immunization, disease prevention and others.

On January 21, 2022, the Founder of Peace and National Unity - Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon and Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Denmark H.E. Ms. Mette Frederiksen exchanged congratulatory telegrams on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries.

The volume of trade between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of Denmark in 2024 amounted to 1,80 million US dollars.

The Parties shall also cooperate within the framework of international organizations.
