19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage

On December 2, 2024 in Asunción, Republic of Paraguay, the 19th session of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage with participation of the representatives of UNESCO member states was launched. Representatives of state parties to the Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage participating in the session, which will continue its work until December 7, 2024.

During the session, the Republic of Tajikistan submitted joint nominations “Ceremony of Mehregan” and “The Art of Crafting and Playing Rubab” to be inscribed on the UNESCO Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.

The President of the Republic of Paraguay, Santiago Peña, and the Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, addressed the opening session.

Representatives of the Republic of Tajikistan are also participating in the 19th session of UNESCO.
