On 19 March 2023, at the initiative of the Embassies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Saudi Arabia, a joint briefing on the UN 2023 Water Conference was held in the UN Resident Office in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Officials from the relevant authorities of Saudi Arabia, ambassadors and representatives from the diplomatic missions accredited in Riyadh, and media representatives of the host country attended the event.
At the briefing, the Ambassadors of Tajikistan and the Netherlands, the UN Resident Coordinator and the UNDP Resident Coordinator in Saudi Arabia spoke and touched upon the preparation process for this conference and its goals.
Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Saudi Arabia Akram Karimi, in his speech emphasized the role of Tajikistan in convening the UN Water Conference 2023, and provided information on the importance of the global initiatives of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, in the implementation of SDGs, including those related to water and sanitation.
During the briefing, the Ambassadors of Tajikistan and the Netherlands, as well as the UN Resident Coordinator in Saudi Arabia, answered media representatives’ questions about the process of collaboration between the parties in arranging the UN Water Conference.
