Tajikistan's relations with the Republic of Iraq

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Iraq were established on November 30, 1995. Iraq recognized the independence of Tajikistan on January 11, 1992.

Since October 19, 2018 Zubaydullo Zubaydzoda has been appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Republic of Iraq with residence in Kuwait.

The International Symposium entitled “The Legacy of Abu Hanifa and its Significance in the Dialogue of Civilizations” (October 2009) was attended by Imam of the Baghdad Grand Mosque Ahmad Hasanat-Taha.

Representatives of relevant authorities of Iraq took part in the 37th meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (Dushanbe, 18-20 May 2010), the High-Level International Conference on the Implementation of the International Decade for Action, “Water for Life”, 2005-2015 (Dushanbe, 7-10 June 2010), the Forum of Arab Economic Cooperation with the Countries of Central Asia and Azerbaijan (15-16 October 2017) and the High-Level International Conference on Combating Terrorism and Extremism (Dushanbe, 3-4 May 2018) and the International Decade for Action, “Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2024” (10-13 June 2024).

With the direct support of the leaders of the two countries, on April 30, 2019, 84 Tajik children were evacuated on a special flight from Baghdad to Dushanbe.
