239th Session of the ECO Permanent Representatives Council under the Presidency of Tajikistan

On June 24, the 239th  meeting of the Permanent Representatives of the Organization member states chaired by the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan in ECO H.E. Mr. Nizomiddin Zohidi was held at the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Secretariat in Tehran.

Opening the meeting, Mr. Hadi Suleimanpur Secretary-General of the Economic Cooperation Organization congratulated the new presidency  of Tajikistan at the Permanent Representatives Council and expressing hope that the Tajik-led council would be successful in implementing the recent meeting of the ECO foreign ministers, which was held in Dushanbe in April 2018.

At the Council meeting important issues of strengthening cooperation between the ECO member states, including the implementation of the Eco Reform Program, setting up membership fees separately, appointing the representative of Afghanistan to the role of ECO Deputy Secretary General, setting up cooperation between ECO and other regional and international organizations, and other issues were reviewed, and relevant appointments were accepted.

It is important to emphasize that the Council of Permanent Representatives is the Permanent Representative and is responsible for implementing the policies and arrangements of the ECO Foreign Ministers Council. Its meetings are held once a month under the chairmanship of the President in ECO.
