The meeting of Tajikistan's Foreign Minister with Iranian Foreign Minister

On June 1, 2019, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Mohammad Javad Zarif, in Tehran.

At the meeting the parties' interest in expanding bilateral political, commercial, economic and cultural relations was emphasized. Strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation, in particular strengthening the activity of Tajikistan-Iran parliamentary friendship groups, was also in line with the goals.

The parties mentioned the role of the Joint Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation of Tajikistan and Iran in the development of cooperation, as well as the recent meeting of the Joint Committee of the 12th  Session of the Joint Commission in Tehran and the consideration of the 13th  meeting of the Joint Commission in the second half of this year were reminded.

They also exchanged views on the exploitation of joint projects and the use of existing capacities to develop economic and commercial cooperation.

During the meeting they also discussed issues related to bilateral and multilateral cooperation in the field of international and regional organizations.

The Foreign Ministers of the two countries, reiterating their concern over the spread of terrorism and the extremism of the challenge and threats of the contemporary world, emphasized the importance of a mass struggle against them.

It should be noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan S. Muhriddin has arrived in Tehran on an official visit with the invitation of Iranian Foreign Minister M. J. Zarif.
