Participation and Address of the Ambassador at the Commemoration Ceremony of Magtymguly Pyragy

On 11 June 2026, a commemorative ceremony honoring Magtymguly Pyragy, the eminent son of the Turkmen people, was held at Kharazmi University of Tehran. The event was organized by the Turkmen Cultural House and attended by literary figures from Iran and Turkmenistan, as well as ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tehran.

The Ambassador of Tajikistan to Iran, Nizomiddin Zohidi, who was among the speakers at the ceremony, emphasized that Magtymguly’s profound knowledge and scholarship, his extraordinary poetic talent, his prominent social role, his opposition to oppression, patriotism, and advocacy of unity elevated him to a symbol of the cultural identity of the Turkmen nation. He is widely regarded as the father and founder of the Turkmen language and literature. Through his lyrical, social, ethical, mystical, and political poetry, Magtymguly contributed significantly to the revival and preservation of the Turkmen language and literary tradition.

In his remarks, the Ambassador highlighted the importance of Magtymguly’s literary heritage and humanitarian ideas as a unifying link among the countries of Central Asia and the wider region. He also stressed the recognition and appreciation of Magtymguly’s personality and works in Tajikistan.

The ceremony also featured speeches by Mr. Haqshenas, Advisor to the Minister of Cultural Heritage, Tourism, and Handicrafts of Iran; Ilyas Gayipov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan to Tehran; Mr. Mohammad Hassan, Chairman of the Cultural Institution of the ECO; Mr. Ali Rahbar, Head of the Turkmen Cultural House; and professors from Kharazmi University.
