Ambassador’s Participation in the Ceremony Marking the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression

On 8 June 2026, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan, Nizomiddin Zohidi, participated and delivered a speech at a ceremony dedicated to the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression, held under the theme “Commemoration of the Martyrs of Minab.” The event took place at the Islamic Azad University of the Islamic Republic of Iran and was attended by ambassadors and members of the diplomatic corps accredited in Tehran.

In his remarks, the Ambassador emphasized that the International Day of Innocent Children Victims of Aggression was proclaimed by the United Nations General Assembly in 1982 in response to the widespread suffering of children in conflict zones, particularly in Palestine. The purpose of establishing this observance was to protect children from death and bloodshed resulting from armed conflicts. However, despite these efforts, children continue to be the social group most severely affected by wars and conflicts around the world.

As one of the latest examples of this tragic reality, the Ambassador referred to the killing of 170 students and teachers of a school in Minab District on the first day of the war in Iran. He expressed his condolences to the families of the victims and described the tragedy as a deep wound on the conscience of the international community—a wound whose healing requires greater humanity among people and a more just world.

The ceremony also featured speeches by Iran’s Minister of Education, Alireza Kazemi, the spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Esmaeil Baghaei, representatives of the leadership of Islamic Azad University, and Iranian scholars.
