Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs with Ambassador of Italy

On February 18, 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs Mr. Sirojiddin Muhriddin received the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to the Republic of Tajikistan (with residence in Tashkent) Mr. Guido de Sanctis.

The parties discussed the current level of bilateral cooperation and prospects for its further development.

Since the establishment of diplomatic relations, ties between Tajikistan and Italy have steadily developed, and both countries are establishing constructive cooperation in various fields. A notable example of such cooperation is the participation of the Italian company "WeBuild" in the implementation of one of Tajikistan's most important hydropower projects. The package of documents signed during the most recent visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan to Italy, as well as the abolition of visa requirements for Italian citizens and holders of diplomatic passports of the Republic of Tajikistan, have created favorable conditions for expanding cooperation and facilitating contacts between the two countries.

The sides also exchanged views on cooperation within international and regional organizations.
