Participation of the delegation of Tajikistan in the Joint Meeting of the OECD Friends of Eurasia Group

​​​​​​​On February 4-5, 2025, the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Industry and New Technologies, Mr. Aziz Nazar took part in the joint meeting of the extended session of the OECD Friends of Eurasia Group and the OECD special working group "GREEN".

During the event, strategies for integrating climate initiatives into the economic competitiveness of the Eastern Partnership and Central Asia regions were discussed. The event brought together representatives from 34 countries and ten international financial and developing partner organizations, including EBRD, EIB, ADB, FAO, UNIDO and UNECE.

Deputy Minister Aziz Nazar made a presentation on the sustainable development of the technological, industrial and raw material potential of the Republic of Tajikistan, emphasizing the importance, broad opportunities and readiness of the country to actively participate in international projects supported by the OECD, which will allow the region to ensure a sustainable, prosperous economic future and become a key player in the global decarbonization and energy transition project.

The participants of the conference were invited to attend the International Jewelry Forum “At the Origins of the Oxus Treasure” (March 24-26) and the International High-Level Conference on the Preservation of Glaciers (May 29 – June 1) in Dushanbe this year.

Also, on the sidelines of the conference the delegation of Tajikistan held bilateral talks with OECD representatives led by William Thompson, Head of the Eurasian Division of the Global Secretariat for International Relations, where the issues of cooperation between Tajikistan and the OECD were discussed.
