First Regular Session of the Executive Board of the UN-Women

On February 12, 2024, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN, Mr. Jonibek Hikmat, as the vice-president of the UN-Women Executive Board for 2024, delivered the national statement at the First Regular Session of the Executive Board of the UN Women. In his speech, the Permanent Representative noted that promoting gender equality and empowering women is a priority for Tajikistan.

The broad political and legal framework in the field of gender equality indicates the support of the Government of Tajikistan for the implementation of gender equality. It was highlighted that in recent years Tajikistan adopted and implemented key strategic documents to enhance women's active engagement in the economic, political, and social spheres, mainly State program for the education, selection, and placement of capable women and girls in leadership positions covering the period 2023–2030, and the National strategy for enhancing the role of women until 2030, were mentioned.
