Meeting with the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology of the Republic of Maldives

On July 19, 2022, the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon, within his working visit to New York, met with the Minister of Environment, Climate Change and Technology of the Republic of Maldives Ms. Aminaz Shauna.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on strengthening joint cooperation in the field of ecology and combating climate change.

Mr. Sheralizoda B.A. informed his colleague about the global initiatives of Tajikistan in promoting water and climate issues, as well as about the next initiative of the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon, to declare 2025 the International Year for the Protection of Glaciers.

In her turn, Ms. Aminaz Shauna appreciated the role of Tajikistan in promoting water and climate issues in the international arena and expressed her country's readiness to support the country's initiatives.
