Meeting with the Director of the Intergovernmental Affairs of UNEP

On July 19, 2022, the Chairman of the Committee for Environmental Protection under the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan Mr. Sheralizoda Bahodur Ahmadjon met with Jamil Ahmad, the Director of the Intergovernmental Affairs of UN Environmental Programs, where the issues of joint cooperation in the field of the environment and the fight against climate change and the implementation of the projects in Tajikistan were discussed.

During the meeting, the parties also exchanged their views on Tajikistan's global initiatives in promoting water and climate issues, including the next initiative of the Leader of the Nation, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Emomali Rahmon to declare 2025 the International Year for the Protection of Glaciers and its importance for the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for sustainable development.

Mr. Sheralizoda B.A. also informed about the measures taken by the country in addressing the impact of climate change and the fight against environmental threats.
