Meeting with the Permanent Representative of Germany to the UN

On July 13, 2022, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Water and Climat Affairs Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda met with the Permanent Representative of the Federal Republic of Germany, Mrs. Antje Leendertse.

Mr. S. Rahimzoda, while highlighting the country's global initiatives in the promotion and resolution of water and climate issues, talked about the outcomes of the Second International Conference on the Decade of Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028, and preparatory process of the 2023 United Nations Conference on the Midterm Comprehensive Review of the Implementation of the International Decade for Action «Water for Sustainable Development», 2018-2028 (New York, March 2023).

The Special Envoy also stressed the importance of the next initiative of the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of Tajikistan H.E. Emomali Rahmon to declare 2025 as an International Year for the Preservation of Glaciers and the need to enhance cooperation in this field.

In her turn, the Permanent Representative of Germany praised the outcomes of the Dushanbe Conference and expressed her country's readiness to support Tajikistan's international initiatives, as well as next initiative to protect glaciers.
