Joint Briefing on “Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms – The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process”

On October 10, 2024, Permanent Mission of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations, Permanent Mission of the State of Kuwait to the UN and the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism (UNOCT) held a joint online briefing on the upcoming High-Level International Conference on “Strengthening International Counter-Terrorism Cooperation and Building Agile Border Security Mechanisms – The Kuwait Phase of the Dushanbe Process” (Kuwait City, 4-5 November 2024)

It should be noted that this Conference will be organized by the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Kuwait in cooperation with the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism within the framework of the “Dushanbe Process on Countering Terrorism and its Financing”.

During the event, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the UN Mr. Jonibek Hikmat, Permanent Representative of the State of Kuwait Mr. Tareq Al Banai and the United Nations Under-Secretary-General, Director of the UN Office of Counter-Terrorism, Mr. Vladimir Voronkov, provided detailed information on the program and organizational-protocol arrangements.

The Permanent Representative of the country also stated that as an international platform, the “Dushanbe Process on Countering Terrorism and its Financing” provides a critical forum for global cooperation and fostering comprehensive dialogue and the exchange of best practices among all stakeholders.

Under-Secretary-General of the United Nations Office of Counter-Terrorism highlighted that this Conference is particularly unique as it marks the expansion of the Dushanbe Process and seeks to strengthen counterterrorism cooperation across the regions of Africa, Middle-East and Southeast Asia. He assured that the Kuwait Phase of the “Dushanbe Process” will strengthen regional and international efforts to fight terrorism and help in achieving this goal.
