On July 13, 2022, at the UN Headquarters, on the margins of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development, at the initiative of the UN -Water and in cooperation with the delegations of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Kingdom of the Netherlands was held a special event on the SDG-6.
The event was inaugurated by the UN Under-Secretary-General for Economic and Social Affairs Mr. Liu Zhenming, the Chairman of UN-Water, President of the International Fund for Agricultural Development Mr. Gilbert Hongbo and President-elect of the 77th session of the UN General Assembly Mr.Csaba Kőrösi.
During the meeting, the Special Envoy of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan on Water and Climatic Affairs Mr. Sulton Rahimzoda, while introducing the results of the Second Dushanbe Water Conference, highlighted the importance and contribution of this event in preparation for the UN Water Conference in 2023 (New York).
The representatives of the permanent missions of Senegal, Japan, Portugal, Egypt, Switzerland, Slovenia and Finland, the Parliamentary Secretary General of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment and Consumer Protection Bettina Hoffmann and the Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) Petteri Taalas spoke at the event and informed the participants about important regional and international preparation meetings in the lead up to the UN Water Conference.
