On May 4, 2022, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs the second organizational meeting of the Organizational Committee of the Second High-Level International Conference on the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028" on the topic “Catalyzing water action and partnership at the local, national, regional and global levels” to be held on June 6-9, 2022 in Dushanbe" took place chaired by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Sharaf Sheralizoda and with participation of the leadership of state agencies – members of the mentioned Committee.
At the meeting, the participants discussed the implementation of the results of the first meeting of the Organizational Committee of the Second Dushanbe Water Conference held on April 12, 2022 under the chairmanship of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan, as well as the process of preparing for the Second Dushanbe Conference, including the organization of exhibitions, pre-conference forums, the marathon with the participation of the Australian runner Mina Guli, one of the most famous runners in the promotion of water issues, the Dushanbe Water Festival, excursions, the Virtual Reality exhibition on the theme “Tajikistan’s experience in the water sector” and other events. The need to strengthen the process of implementing joint tasks was emphasized.
It should be noted that the Republic of Tajikistan, under the leadership of the Leader of the Nation, is recognized as the initiator and leader in the promotion of water and climate issues in the World Development Agenda and the introduction of relevant UN resolutions on these issues. Currently, within the framework of the fourth initiative of the Leader of the Nation on the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development, 2018-2028", the Second Dushanbe Water Conference is being held, which is being considered as an important global event in the process of preparing the UN Water Conference 2023 (New York).
To date, more than 1,000 participants have registered on the conference website. At the request of the official delegations of the UN Member States, the deadline for registration was extended until May 20, 2022. Registration of all participants, including official delegations of the Second Dushanbe Water Conference, is mandatory in accordance with organizational requirements and can be accomplished on the website www.dushanbewaterprocess.org/registration/.
