Meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Tajikistan and Iran

On 26 October 2021, in Tehran, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, Sirojiddin Muhriddin met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hussein Amir-Abdullahian.

At the meeting, the parties expressed their intention to expand political, trade, economic and cultural ties. The importance of strengthening inter-parliamentary relations was also emphasized, in particular the strengthening of the activities of the inter-parliamentary friendly groups of Tajikistan and Iran.

The parties noted the role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Technical and Cultural Cooperation for expanding mutual relations.

Also, an exchange of views was carried out on the implemented joint projects and the use of the existing potential for expanding cooperation.

During the meeting, the parties also discussed issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation within the framework of international and regional organizations.

The foreign ministers of the two countries, expressing their concern about the intensification of terrorism, extremism, challenges and threats of the modern world, stressed the importance of jointly combating these phenomena.

It should be noted that the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan arrived in Tehran at the invitation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran to attend the Meeting of Foreign Ministers of neighboring countries of Afghanistan+Russia.
