Meeting of the Permanent Representative with UNICEF Deputy Executive Director

On October 15, 2021 the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Tajikistan to the United Nations Jonibek Hikmat met with UNICEF Deputy Executive Director for programmes Omar Abdi.

During the meeting, the parties discussed areas of cooperation between Tajikistan and UNICEF, paid particular attention to the process of drafting new country program document for Tajikistan. The sides also touched upon on organization of preconference event in the margins of the Dushanbe Water Conference in 2022. In addition, the enhancement of partnership between Tajikistan and UNICEF in order to build resilience against the pandemic was also discussed.

The parties exchanged views on human rights situation in Afghanistan, especially the rights of women and girls, and emphasized the importance of the provision of direct humanitarian assistance to the population of Afghanistan and the need to strengthen international cooperation to halt the humanitarian catastrophe in this country.
