On April 24, 2015 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs a briefing of the United States delegation for official representatives of Tajikistan on security situation in the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan was held.
The United States delegation was led by Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Central Asia Daniel Rosenblum and Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Afghanistan, Pakistan and Central Asia Christine Abizaid.
Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov led the delegation of Tajikistan at this event. The briefing was also attended by the representatives of enforcement agencies of Tajikistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During his speech Minister of Foreign Affairs noted that "The Republic of Tajikistan always has been a supporter of maintaining peace and stability in the neighboring country. To this end, our country is actively involved in various international events on Afghanistan and promotes the implementation of joint regional projects in such fields as energy, communications and infrastructure that will promote economic development and maintain security in Afghanistan and Central Asia ".
During the briefing, the US delegation informed the Tajik side of the current situation regarding security, politics and economy in Afghanistan.
At the end of the meeting, the US delegation responded to various questions of the Tajik side on the subject of the meeting.
It should be noted that the delegation of the United States holds a briefing on Afghanistan for Central Asian states since 2011. The purpose of the briefing is to exchange views on the process of establishing and maintaining peace and security in Afghanistan.
