On 8 December 2020, new round of political consultations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Federal Republic of Germany was held in the format of a videoconference.
The respective delegations were headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Muzaffar Huseinzoda and the Director of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Germany for cooperation with Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and Central Asia Michael Siebert.
A wide range of issues related to the development of bilateral relations in the political, economic, social, scientific, cultural spheres, and in the field of tourism and security, as well as fruitful cooperation between the two countries within the framework of regional and international organizations were discussed during the consultations.
The both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation in the field of energy, health care, migration, as well as in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic and mitigating the effects of climate change.
The parties also exchanged views on deepening inter-parliamentary ties, expanding the legal framework, strengthening cooperation within the framework of the EU’s new Central Asian Strategy and the regional initiative "Green Central Asia".
