On December 9, 2019, in Istanbul the 8th Ministerial Conference “Heart of Asia/Istanbul Process” under the motto “Peace, Partnership, Prosperity” was held, in which international organizations and supporting countries of “Heart of Asia - Istanbul Process” took part.
The delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan, headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sirojiddin Muhriddin took part in the conference.
The President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Ashraf Ghani and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdoğan addressed the Conference with an inaugurational speech.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, speaking at the meeting, emphasized the constructive position of the Republic of Tajikistan providing peace, stability and prosperity in the neighboring country, as well as called upon participant countries, supporting states, international and regional organizations to involve more in positive processes in Afghanistan.
In conclusion of the Conference Istanbul Declaration was adopted. In according to the Declaration in 2020 the co-chairmanship in the “Heart of Asia/Istanbul Process” will pass to the Republic of Tajikistan. The initiative of Tajikistan was unanimously supported by the participants of the conference.
