During last 26 years collaboration with the WFP is progressively strengthened. WFP provides vital assistance to the country by creating and strengthening a national social protection system to ensure food security and nutrition. WFP is also working to increase the resilience of rural communities vulnerable to frequent natural and economic challenges. In addition, WFP works closely with the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) and the World Health Organization (WHO) through local health centers to help parents reduce child acute malnutrition. Every year more than 6,000 children in the country are covered by the supplementary feeding program.
