Meeting of the foreign ministers of Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan

On July 30, 2014 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic Erlan Abdyldaev, who arrived in Dushanbe for participation in the upcoming meeting of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the SCO Member States.

During the meeting the parties discussed urgent issues of the Tajik-Kyrgyz cooperation and mutually acceptable ways and mechanisms of solving the existing bilateral issues in atmosphere of trust and constructive cooperation.

Particular emphasis was put on the need to intensify the political dialogue and speedy implementation of the agreements reached on enhancing and deepening mutually beneficial cooperation in all areas of interests of the two friendly countries, particularly in energy, transport and  communication sectors, as well as cross-border cooperation.

The sides expressed confidence that the forthcoming meeting at the level of Heads of the two States will give significant impetus to the development of good neighborly relations and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries.

The Foreign Ministers also discussed the current regional and international issues, as well as agenda of the forthcoming meeting of the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers to be held in Dushanbe.
