Ambassador's meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic

On May 21-23, 2019, a working visit of the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan in the State of Kuwait Zubaydzoda Zubaydullo to the city of Damascus took place.

During the visit on May 22, 2019, a meeting with the First Deputy Foreign Minister of the Syrian Arab Republic Faisal Al-Mekdad was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Ambassador delivered a letter on behalf of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and expatriates of the Syrian Arab Republic Walid Al-Muallem to strengthen bilateral relations.

During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of development of bilateral relations between the two countries, the establishment of mutually beneficial cooperation in areas of common interest, especially in the combat against terrorism and extremism, and also issues of number and identification of citizens of Tajikistan and their return to homeland. Apart from that, the parties discussed the situation in the world in general and in the Middle East in particular.

Both sides stressed the need for exchange of official visits at different levels and for political consultations between the two ministries of foreign affairs during 2019.
