The 10th Intellectual Dialogue of

On August 31, 2017 in Tokyo, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan hosted the 10th "Central Asia plus Japan" Intellectual Dialogue (Tokyo Dialogue) with the participation of representatives of Central Asian countries and internationally renowned scholars and researchers.

The keynote speech was addressed by Mr. Manabu Horii, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Foreign Affairs of Japan, who congratulated everyone on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries of the Central Asia and Japan.

Meiji Institute for Global Affairs Fellow, Ms. Yoriko Kawaguchi, former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan, who took the initiative and provided encouragement for the establishment of “Central Asia + Japan” Dialogue delivered a detailed presentation on the 25th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the countries of Central Asia and Japan.

A well-known American scholar, Professor Frederick Starr, Chairman of the Central Asia-Caucasus Institute of American Foreign Policy Council made presentation about the 2000-year history of Central Asia and East Asia, elaborating on the relations of the Central Asian region with Japan through the Great Silk Road.

Representatives of the countries participating in the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" made presentation on following theme: "Thinking of the present and future of relations between the Central Asia and Japan". The Republic of Tajikistan was represented by the Head of the Department for Foreign Relations of the Executive Office of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Bobozoda Gulomjon Jura.
