XV Conference of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) program on October 25-26, 2016 took place in Islamabad, which was attended by the delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Deputy Minister for economic development and trade of the Republic of Tajikistan Gulru of Jabborzoda. In the framework of this Conference also hosted the CAREC Energy Investment Forum.
The delegation of Tajikistan, part of which also included representatives of the ministries of transport, energy and water resources and customs service stated in their speeches on the position of our country on the development of trade, construction of roads and railway networks, energy corridors and regional integration in the framework of CAREC.
This Conference was participated by delegates from 10 countries and representatives of international financial institutions – World Bank, IMF, Asian Development Bank, European Bank for reconstruction and development, the UNDP, WTO, and including international development agencies Program for international development, UK, JICA and USAID.
In the opening ceremony of the conference took part the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Nawaz Sharif and the President of the Asian Development Bank, Takehiko Nakao, who had a speech on the role of the Conference on Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) regional integration. In particular Takehiko Nakao mentioned, that since the establishment of the CAREC was implemented 174 projects with the amount of more than 28.9 billion, which were aimed at strengthening regional integration, energy, construction of transport corridors and infrastructure projects and trade development.
According to the decision of the event the next conference of the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation (CAREC) will be held next year in the Republic of Tajikistan.
