Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the State of Qatar were established on 13 December 1994, and on November 2012 the Embassy of the State of Qatar started functioning in Tajikistan. In July 2013 the State of Qatar has appointed its Ambassador to the Republic of Tajikistan who presented his credentials on 4 October 2013.
The official visit by the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon to the State of Qatar on May 6-7, 2007 is considered as an important stage in the bilateral relations between the two countries. The legal and treaty basis of the relations between the two countries consists of economic, trade, technical, legal, investment and other agreements.
On August 2007 Emir of the State of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani paid an official visit to the Republic of Tajikistan. Within this visit the both sides agreed to develop and deepen mutually beneficial cooperation on various fields.
“Al-Diyar"-Qatari Investment Company in the field of real estate’s project presentation and the beginning of construction of a residential and commercial complex "Dieri Dushanbe" was held in Dushanbe on August 26, 2009 in the presence of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and Managing Director of the company Ghanem bin Saad Al-Saad.
The Republic of Tajikistan has opened its Embassy in the State of Qatar on December 2012. On May 2013 the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to the State of Qatar was appointed and the Tajik Ambassador presented his credentials to the Head of the State of Qatar on September 17, 2013.
