Participation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs in a side event entitled “Climate Change and Security in Mountain Regions”

On December 1, 2022, in Lodz Poland, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin participated and addressed the side event “Climate Change and Security in Mountain Regions” which was held on the margins of the 29th Ministerial Council of the OSCE.

In his statement Minister Muhriddin emphasized significant increase in number of extreme natural phenomena in the region and Tajikistan, which causes serious damage to the population and the economy of the country.

Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan also noted the ever-increasing impact of climate change on the environmental situation in the country, as well as the high volume of glacier melting and called on the international community to support the next initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan His Excellency Emomali Rahmon to declare 2025 the Year of Glacier Protection.
