Minister of Foreign Affairs’ participation at the UNESCO Special Event

On December 2, 2015 in Paris the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tajikistan Sirodjidin Aslov has participated at the High-level event on “Water, People and Cooperation: 50 Years of Water Programmes for Sustainable Development at UNESCO” organized by UNESCO within the Framework of the 21st Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP-21).

In his statement, Minister Aslov has noted the active involvement of the UNESCO institutions in preparation, implementation and assessment of such global initiatives of Tajikistan, as the International Year of Fresh Water, 2003, the International Year on Water Cooperation, 2013 and the International Decade of Action “Water for Life”, 2005-2015.

S.Aslov has called upon the relevant UN institutions, particularly, the UNESCO and its water programmes to continue their cooperation with the Government of Tajikistan in preparation and implementation of the New International Decade  of Action “Water for Sustainable Development” proposed by Emomali Rahmon, the President of Tajikistan, at the 7th World Water Forum in April 2015.
