Relations of Tajikistan with Republic of Korea

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea were established on April 27, 1992.

Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Korea has been functioning since April 2015 and the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Dushanbe at the level of Chargé d'Affaires functions since June 2002. The current Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan in the Republic of Korea is H.E. Sharifzoda Yusuf  Toir and Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the Republic of Tajikistan is H.E. Mr. Li Uchol.

The basis of the legal framework consists of 9 intergovernmental agreements.

On May 24-25, 2005, the Founder of Peace and National Unity, Leader of the Nation, President of the Republic of Tajikistan paid a working visit to the Republic of Korea, were he met with the leadership of the country and visited major companies.

On April 12-17, 2015, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan made an official visit to Seoul and also participated in the 7th World Water Forum in the city of Daegu of the Republic of Korea.

On July 15-17, 2019, at the invitation of the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Kohir Rasulzoda, the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea paid an official visit to Republic of Tajikistan. During the visit, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan received the Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea. The Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea also met with the Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan and the Chairman of Dushanbe City.

On November 6-8, 2018, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan Davlatali Said visited the Republic of Korea to attend the International Forum "Kor-Asia Forum 2018". During the Forum, the First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Tajikistan held a meeting with Prime Minister of the Republic of Korea.

On July 3-8, 2012 in Seoul, the official delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan headed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan H. Zarifi took part in the work of the 6th Forum on Cooperation between the Republic of Korea and the Central Asian countries, as well as in the Investment Forum between the Republic of Korea and Central Asian countries.

On October 3-5, 2013, delegation of the Republic of Tajikistan led by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs N. Zohidi took part in the work of the 7th Forum for Cooperation between the Republic of Korea and Central Asia in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan.

The 3rd session of Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Scientific-Technical Cooperation between two countries was held on June 24-25, 2019 in Seoul.

Since April 2017, the permanent representative of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan functions in the Republic of Korea.

It should be noted that formed in 2007, the Forum on Cooperation between Central Asia and the Republic of Korea substantially contributes to the development of bilateral relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Republic of Korea. Each year various issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation are discussed in the framework of the Forum.

The Republic of Tajikistan participates in various programs of the Korea International Cooperation Agency (KOICA).

The trade turnover between Tajikistan and Korea for 2018 amounted over 27,5 million USD .
