Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States

On August 6, 2021 the Third Summit of the Leaders of the Central Asian countries was held in Turkmenbashi, Turkmenistan. It was attended by the Presidents of Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan.

Addressing the heads of states, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon stressed the importance of the Central Asian Summit and discussed a wide range of issues of regional cooperation, including prospects for cooperation in political, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian areas and regional security.

Emomali Rahmon expressed his country's readiness for close cooperation in the field of trade, industrial production, digital economy, innovation and modern technologies, tourism and food security, transport and energy security, and also called for the development of new and effective measures to develop cooperation in the areas under consideration a priority issue.

In order to ensure security in the region, the President of Tajikistan stressed the importance of cooperation between the Central Asian countries in the fight against terrorism, extremism, radicalism, drug trafficking, cybercrime and transnational organized crime and suggested taking urgent measures.

As Chairman of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (2020-2022) Emomali Rahmon drew the attention of the heads of Central Asian states to solving the global problems of climate change, melting glaciers, reducing the risk of disasters and the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymukhamedov, in the presence of leaders of other countries, awarded the President of the Republic of Tajikistan the first highest award "Honorary Medal of the Heads of Central Asian States" for impeccable services in the development of friendly relations, good-neighborliness, mutual understanding and cooperation of the Central Asian states, strengthening peace and security in the region, promoting interests and joint initiatives in the international arena.
