                                                    Cooperation for development.

Since 2003, Germany has been Tajikistan's development partner. Every year, the delegations of the two countries hold negotiations and intergovernmental consultations on financial and technical issues, during which there are discussed a wide range of issues of cooperation between the two countries in the field of sustainable economic development, improving the welfare of the population, protection of the renewable energy sources, primary education, environmental protection, legal reforms, and disaster prevention. In November 2019, Tajikistan and Germany held regular intergovernmental consultations on technical and financial cooperation in Dushanbe. During these consultations, there were considered the issues of implementation of the Protocol points of the previous intergovernmental meeting of Tajikistan and Germany and the issues of further cooperation between the two countries for sustainable development were discussed.

Currently, there are the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ), the Centre for International Migration (CIM), the representative office of German Development Bank (KfW), Office of Agroaction (Welthungerhilfe) and representative office of the Caritas, which are charged with the implementation of technical and financial resources. The representative office of the German Development Bank (KfW) is the initiator of the reconstruction of some hydropower facilities in the country. In June 2010, AccessBankTajikistan was established as part of an intergovernmental agreement between Tajikistan and the Federal Republic of Germany.
