On January 9, 2020, as part of a courtesy visit Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Tajikistan to Germany Sohibnazar Gayratsho made a working visit to the North German Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein. During the meeting, the Ambassador and the Minister of economy, transport, technology and tourism of this region, Mr. Bernd Buchholz, exchanged views on the establishment of trade and economic cooperation between Tajikistan and the Northern regions of Germany.

The goals of the Government of the Republic of Tajikistan in the field of industrialization of the country and the ongoing reforms create a good basis for cooperation for German entrepreneurs. The availability of renewable energy sources, Free Economic Zones and raw materials, as well as access to regional markets were noted as incentives for entrepreneurs and investors.

Sohibnazar Gayratsho asked the Minister of economy to assist in holding trade and economic forums of both countries. The Ambassador took this opportunity to invite Mr. Buchholz to take part in international exhibitions and the annual business forum in Dushanbe. On the same day, the Ambassador held a meeting at the Chamber of Commerce of the cities of Lubeck and Kiel. Taking into account the cheap price of electricity, the need to process agricultural products, the availability of inexpensive labor and a favorable investment climate, the two sides exchanged views on the possibility of introducing modern technical achievements of Germany in the process of industrialization, the use of existing infrastructure and training.

Along with access to ports and bays, the Federal State of Schleswig-Holstein is a leader in the production of renewable energy from wind and sun, the conversion of electricity to gas, the processing of artificial waste, the food industry and the introduction of information technology, as well as due to a good tourism infrastructure and a simplified tax system, it receives up to 30 million tourists annually.
