On 28 December 2018 Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Federal Republic of Germany Sohibnazar Gayratsho met with the Executive Director of the Estern Committee of German Economy Michael Harms.
The launch of the first aggregate of the Rogun hydropower plant, development of tourism and folk crafts, production of agricultural products and efforts of the Government of Tajikistan in increasing import substitution production, stipulated in the National Development Strategy of Tajikistan for the period up to 2030 create favourable conditions for development of small and medium enterprises.
Establishing small and medium enterprises on processing agricultural products, wool and organic cotton and on this basis establishing cooperation with German enterprises, construction of warehouses for storing export oriented products and opening chain stores, were the main topics of discussion during the meeting.
The Parties, with the account of existing opportunities, emphasised the necessity to organize and hold a joint business forum within the International Business Forum, which is held once a year in October in Tajikistan.
The Eastern Committee of German Economy is the largest union of Germany, which comprises more than 400 small and medium entrpreneours. Its activity is mainly focused on development of economic cooperation of Germany with 26 countries of the world.
