On 24 May, a football tournament dedicated to World Football Day was held in Osnabrück, Germany, at the initiative of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Germany and in cooperation with active members of the Tajik diaspora.
The event was organized in the context of Tajikistan’s international initiatives in the field of sports and football and brought together more than 250 participants, including players and spectators, with 15 teams from various cities across Germany taking part.
It should be noted that in 2024 the United Nations adopted a special resolution on World Football Day at the proposal of the Chairman of the Majlisi Milli of the Majlisi Oli of the Republic of Tajikistan, Mayor of the city of Dushanbe and President of the Football Federation of Tajikistan, Honourable Rustam Emomali. The initiative was regarded as recognition of Tajikistan’s international efforts in the field of sports and contributed to strengthening the country’s international standing.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan to Germany, Imomudin Sattorov, congratulated the participants on the occasion of World Football Day and presented the winners with medals, trophies, certificates and cash prizes.
According to the results of the tournament, the team from Lippstadt secured first place, the team from Cologne took second place, and the team from Osnabrück finished in third place.
