Bilateral relations of Tajikistan with Germany
Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Federal Republic of Germany were established on 28 February 1992.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Federal Republic of Germany is Mr.Sattorov Imomudin Mirzoevich. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Tajikistan is Mr. York Schuegraf.
Mutual visits at the highest level laid the foundation for multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany.
In 2003, 2011 and 2023 the visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon to the Federal Republic of Germany contributed to the development of bilateral political and economic relations.
On the sidelines of COP-27 in November 2022 in the city of Sharm El Sheikh, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the German Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz and discussed current issues and prospects for cooperation between the two countries, as well as topical issues.
On the sidelines of the first Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia and the Federal Republic of Germany, which took place on September 29, 2023, in Berlin, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon met with the Federal Chancellor of Germany Mr. Olaf Scholz and the President of the Federal Republic of Germany Mr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier. During the meetings sides discussed the current the situation and prospects for bilateral and multilateral cooperation between the countries of Central Asia and Germany.
Main tools of bilateral relations are negotiations and the annual intergovernmental consultations, the inter-ministerial political consultations of foreign ministries, mutual visits of politicians, representatives of parliaments, ministries of defense, power structures, business forums, direct cooperation of educational and research institutions and cooperation within international organizations. KfW Development Bank and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) along with other organizations contribute to the promotion of development cooperation.
The inter-parliamentary ties between the two states are developing intensively.
Up to date, Tajikistan and Germany have signed 42 bilateral agreements. 31 intergovernmental agreements, 10 inter-departmental and 1 joint statement. These agreements cover a wide range of bilateral cooperation.
The volume of trade between Tajikistan and Germany in 2022 amounted to 114 millions of USD.
November, 2023
