Bilateral relations of Tajikistan with Germany

Diplomatic relations between the Republic of Tajikistan and the Federal Republic of Germany were established on 28 February 1992.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Federal Republic of Germany is Sattorov Imomudin Mirzoevich.

Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Tajikistan is Andreas Prothmann.

Mutual visits at the highest level laid the foundation for multilateral cooperation between Tajikistan and Germany.

In 2003 and 2011 the visit of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, H.E. Mr. Emomali Rahmon to the Federal Republic of Germany contributed to the development of bilateral political and economic relations.

During the visits, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan met with German President Mr. Christian Wulf and German Chancellor Angela Merkel. 

The Republic of Tajikistan and the Federal Republic of Germany on a regular basis hold annual bilateral consultations and Intergovernmental meetings on the development of economic and technical cooperation, which serve as an important mechanism for strengthening and further development of relations.

Main tools of bilateral relations are negotiations and the annual intergovernmental consultations, the inter-ministerial political consultations of foreign ministries, mutual visits of politicians, representatives of parliaments, ministries of defense, power structures, business forums, direct cooperation of educational and research institutions and cooperation within international organizations. KfW Development Bank and the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) along with other organizations contribute to the promotion of development cooperation.

The inter-parliamentary ties between the two states are developing intensively.

Up to date, Tajikistan and Germany have signed 43 bilateral agreements. 32 intergovernmental agreements, 10 inter-departmental and 1 joint statement. These agreements cover a wide range of bilateral cooperation.
