On 15 May 2025, a cultural evening in honour of Abul-Qasim Firdawsi was held at the Iranian Embassy in Berlin in cooperation with the Tajik Embassy in Germany. The evening was attended by numerous academics, orientalists and Persian-speaking literary scholars living in Germany.
In his speech, the Ambassador of the Republic of Tajikistan, Imomudin Sattorov, emphasised the historical and cultural significance of the ‘Shahname’ for the development of self-confidence as well as the culture, literature and education of Tajikistan. He emphasised that the work of Abul-Qasim Firdawsi forms a basis for friendship and cohesion among the Persian-speaking peoples and that the teachings and advice of his work contribute to the development of positive human qualities.
The Iranian Ambassador, Majid Nili Ahmadabadi, recalled the timelessness and message of peace and wisdom in Firdawsi's poetry and emphasised that the poets Abul-Qasim Firdawsi and Goethe considered poetry as the foundation of peace. He also pointed out that the ‘Shahname’ is rich in ethical and educational values and its teachings are of great importance for the formation of personality and the strengthening of unity and peace in society.
In the further course of the event, excerpts from the ‘Shahname’ were recited and a Tajik-Iranian music programme was presented. The musicians performed on the traditional instruments doira, setar and santur.
