On May 7, 2025, the official opening of the representative office of the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW) in Tajikistan took place at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan.
The establishment of this office was carried out on the initiative and with the support of the Embassy of the Republic of Tajikistan in Germany.
The opening ceremony was attended by the German delegation led by Andreas Jahn, Federal Director for International Policy and Foreign Trade of the BVMW; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Tajikistan to the Federal Republic of Germany, Imomudin Sattorov; the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Republic of Tajikistan, York Schuegraf; as well as other official guests.
The BVMW unites over one million German enterprises and is committed to promoting the international business activities of its members. The newly opened office in Dushanbe is the association’s 93rd foreign representation worldwide and is intended to contribute to the development of direct economic and trade relations between Tajik and German entrepreneurs.
On the same day, the German-Tajik Business Forum was held at the Serena Hotel in Dushanbe. The forum brought together representatives of 20 German companies from various sectors, including banking, agriculture, insurance, construction, transportation, pharmaceuticals, and more. They held discussions and exchanged ideas with representatives of the Tajik business community.
Several cooperation documents were signed during the forum, including a Letter of Intent between the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Republic of Tajikistan and the BVMW, as well as a Memorandum of Understanding between the airline “Somon Air” and Trive Haan Airport in Germany.
The business forum concluded with bilateral B2B meetings between companies from both countries, creating a solid foundation for deepening economic and trade cooperation.
On the sidelines of the forum, on May 8, 2025, a meeting was held between the Minister of Industry and New Technologies of the Republic of Tajikistan and the delegation of the German Association for Small and Medium-sized Businesses (BVMW).
During the meeting, the parties discussed opportunities to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the fields of industry, the import of new technologies, the development of small and medium-sized enterprises, and the establishment of joint production facilities. The Minister presented investment opportunities in Tajikistan, particularly in free economic zones and priority industrial sectors.
The BVMW delegation expressed its readiness to expand economic cooperation and to facilitate the transfer of modern German technologies and expertise to Tajikistan. The sides also emphasized the importance of regularly holding joint business events and forums.
